Born in Lokeren on 04/06/1920, he was a pupil of Dieudonné in Mirecourt, also frequented the workshops of Colin-Mezin. He returned to Belgium in 1946 to settle in Ghent. He obtained a diploma of honor at the international violin making competition in La Hague in 1949
